From 1990 until his retirement in 2023, Mr. Rao served at Micro Labs, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President – Exports and New Project Development. During this tenure, he played a pivotal role in driving global exports, leading domestic expansion efforts, and establishing new manufacturing facilities. These initiatives also afforded him deep exposure to real estate and large-scale project execution.

He has held leadership positions with reputed organizations such as Underwriters Laboratories, BPL Mobile and Thermax with responsibilities at MD, CEO/COO and VP levels.

Currently, Venkitachalam serves as an Adviser at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre at IIT Gandhinagar, where he mentors emerging ventures and supports institution-level initiatives in innovation and enterprise development. He is also an active voice in public policy advocacy, contributing to research in public safety through the Centre for Safety Engineering at IITGN and the Beyond Carlton Foundation.
